Among the beneficiaries, 4,760 officers were elevated or upgraded within the senior cadre. In the junior cadre, 1,283 officers earned promotions, upgrades, and rank conversions, bringing the total number of affected personnel to 6,043.

Within the junior cadre, the movement extends from Correctional Assistant III up to Inspector of Corrections. This tier includes the upgrading of 129 officers to the Inspectorate Cadre, as well as the conversion of 743 Chief Correctional Assistants into Inspectors of Corrections.

The official approval for the career advancements was formally conveyed in letters from the CDCFIB dated October 26, November 2, and November 4, 2026. This multi-phase release highlights the Board’s structured approach to clearing career backlogs across different cadres.

Expressing deep appreciation, the Controller-General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, commended the Minister of Interior and CDCFIB Chairman, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his steadfast support of staff welfare. Nwakuche emphasized that the exercise underscores the Federal Government’s dedication to institutional growth, staff motivation, and improved public service delivery.

Concluding with a charge to the workforce, Nwakuche congratulated the promoted personnel and reminded them that higher rank brings greater responsibility. He urged officers to maintain integrity, discipline, and dedication as the NCoS continues its mission of safe custody, offender rehabilitation, and successful reintegration into society.
