The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) have formed a strategic alliance to fast-track Nigeria’s digital economy. Finalized on the sidelines of GITEX Nigeria, the collaboration focuses on equipping domestic enterprises with modern technological tools to drive inclusive, nationwide economic growth.
The pact was sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by NITDA Director General Kashifu Inuwa and NACCIMA Director General Engr. Olusola Obadimu. The agreement establishes an institutional bridge between public-sector digital strategy and organized private commerce, creating a united front to modernize commercial operations across the country.
Highlighting the urgency for business modernization, Engr. Obadimu characterized the intervention as vital for maintaining private-sector relevance in an evolving global market. As the voice of Nigeria’s organized private sector, NACCIMA identified NITDA as the ideal institutional partner to guide traditional enterprises through modern technological adoption and systemic operational upgrades.
The operational framework targets several core pillars, including the rollout of a collaborative digital platform and targeted enterprise upgrades for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Additionally, the roadmap prioritizes enterprise capacity building, broader tech adoption, and shared support for the development and institutionalization of the Digital Nigeria International Conference (DNICE) 2026 and future editions.
Beyond direct enterprise modernization, the agreement aims to unify Nigeria’s broader commercial ecosystem by strengthening ties between regulatory bodies, private businesses, tech firms, academia, and investors. This integrated network is designed to remove operational bottlenecks, channel capital efficiently, and establish a fertile environment for homegrown technological solutions.
Both organizations have committed to immediate execution rather than protracted planning. Engr. Obadimu stressed that operational teams will roll out programs without delay, ensuring that businesses across member chambers experience direct, visible benefits from the partnership as implementation begins immediately.
The initiative places significant emphasis on empowering Nigeria’s vibrant youth demographic, who currently lead the nation’s fintech and digital entrepreneurship sectors. By marrying NITDA’s national digital mandate with NACCIMA’s vast commercial network, the alliance seeks to scale youth-led innovations into globally competitive enterprises that anchor Nigeria’s long-term economic resilience.
