The Youth Farmers Organization for Agricultural Development in Nigeria has honoured Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, and the Vice President of Dangote Industries Limited, Mr. Devakumar Edwin, with Merit Awards of Excellence for their outstanding roles in national development and youth empowerment.
The award presentation took place during a two-day advocacy visit and facility tour of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lagos, where the youth delegation described the multi-billion-dollar project as a “National Pride” and “a symbol of industrial excellence capable of transforming Nigeria’s economy.”
Speaking during the ceremony, the National President of the organization, Comrade Abdulrahman Umar Etudaye, said Alhaji Dangote was honoured as Grand Patron in recognition of his immense contributions to nation-building, economic development, and the empowerment of young Nigerians.
“Alhaji Dangote’s vision has inspired millions of youths across the country. His investments have created opportunities that continue to drive Nigeria’s economic growth and reduce unemployment,” Etudaye stated.
Similarly, Mr. Devakumar Edwin was conferred with the Merit Award of Excellence as Patron of the organization for his exemplary leadership and commitment to youth development. The group also invited him to serve as Chairman of their upcoming National Food Security Summit in Abuja, while Alhaji Dangote was named Special Guest of Honour for the event.
During the visit, the Youth Farmers commended the technological sophistication of the Dangote Refinery and its potential to reposition Nigeria as a self-reliant energy producer. “The refinery is not just a private investment; it is a national asset that symbolizes hope for industrial progress, job creation, and reduced dependence on imported petroleum products,” Etudaye added.
In his remarks, Mr. Devakumar Edwin expressed gratitude for the recognition and praised the Youth Farmers for their patriotism and dedication to nation-building. He reaffirmed Dangote Industries’ commitment to supporting youth empowerment and advancing Nigeria’s economic sustainability through its various projects across the country.
“The Dangote Group remains fully committed to initiatives that create employment, promote self-sufficiency, and enhance national productivity,” Edwin said.
The Youth Farmers Organization pledged to continue collaborating with relevant stakeholders, including Dangote Industries, to promote food security, youth empowerment, and a more prosperous Nigeria.
