Moro LG Boss Flags Off NSCDC Divisional Office Project in Malete

Efforts to strengthen grassroots security architecture in Kwara State received a boost on Wednesday as the Chairperson of Moro Local Government Area, Hon. Chief Mrs. Mariam Abdulwasiu Omotayo, performed the foundation laying ceremony for a new Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Divisional Office in Malete.

The event was attended by the Acting State Commandant of the NSCDC in Kwara, DCC Ayelabowo Olusegun Isaac, alongside top security officials, judicial representatives, traditional rulers and community leaders.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASC 1 Ayoola Michael Shola, the project marks the commencement of a permanent office complex for the Malete Division. The initiative, spearheaded by the Moro Local Government Authority, is aimed at reinforcing the Corps’ operations in protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, maintaining public safety and supporting internal security within the area.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Omotayo reaffirmed her administration’s resolve to prioritise security across Moro LGA, describing the NSCDC as a key partner in safeguarding lives and property.

“We recognise the immense sacrifices and dedication of NSCDC personnel in ensuring the safety of our people in Malete and neighbouring communities. This project is a demonstration of our commitment to providing the necessary support for security agencies to function effectively,” she said.

The council boss assured the Corps of sustained collaboration and institutional backing to enhance peace and stability in the local government.

In his remarks, DCC Ayelabowo expressed appreciation to the chairperson and the local government for what he described as a strategic intervention in the security sector.

“This permanent facility will not only improve our operational efficiency but also boost the morale of our officers and men. It is a significant step towards strengthening our presence and response capacity in Moro LGA,” he stated.

He reiterated the NSCDC’s commitment to professionalism, integrity and effective service delivery, assuring residents that the Corps would continue to work closely with other security agencies and community stakeholders to maintain law and order.

Among dignitaries present at the event were the representative of the Chief Judge of Kwara State, Hon. Justice Y. Dikko; Area B Commander, ACC Hafusat Mustapha; the Divisional Police Officer, Malete Division, CSC Edward Egamana; the Divisional Officer, NSCDC Shao Division, SC Ajape; as well as political office holders and members of the host community.
