A mother of one, Rihanat Abdulsalam, on Tuesday narrated before the Area Court in Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, that she has never met her husband’s family since they got married.
Rihanat, who is seeking the dissolution of her marriage to Saheed Adegunju, told the court that her husband had consistently refused to introduce her to his family despite repeated pleas.
“Anytime I ask him to take me to his family, he always finds one excuse or the other. It continued like that until I even gave birth to our child,” she said.
She further alleged that Adegunju had abandoned his duties as a husband and father, forcing her to take full responsibility.
“I want this marriage dissolved. I also want custody of my child and a maintenance fee of N30,000 monthly for the child’s upkeep,” Rihanat pleaded.
The presiding judge, Idris Etsu, directed that the court process be served on the husband again and stressed that the matter would go on whether he appeared or not. The case was adjourned to September 30 for hearing.
