PSC Elevates Senior Police Officers, Tasks New AIGs on Effective Policing

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of several senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force to higher ranks, following a rigorous and merit-based selection process.

The promotions were concluded after written examinations and oral interviews held at the commission’s corporate headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. The exercise was presided over by the Chairman of the PSC, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Hashimu Salihu Argungu.

Among those elevated from the rank of Commissioner of Police to Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) are CP Agene Emmanuel FCID of Kaduna State Command and CP Ihebom Chukwuma of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja, alongside five other senior officers.

Speaking during the promotion exercise, PSC Chairman, DIG Argungu, congratulated the newly promoted officers and charged them to live up to the higher responsibilities that come with their new ranks.

“Promotion comes with greater expectations. You must rededicate yourselves to effective policing, the protection of lives and property, and the maintenance of law and order across the country,” Argungu said.

He stressed that the commission remains committed to strengthening professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force through regular and merit-driven promotions in line with global best practices.

According to him, the PSC will continue to support reforms that encourage discipline, accountability and improved service delivery within the force.

The promotion exercise was confirmed in a statement issued by the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs of the commission, Torty Enjoy Kalu.
