NSCDC Strengthens Security in Ilorin with New GRA Outpost

Residents of the Government Reserved Area (GRA), Ilorin, will now enjoy improved security following the commissioning of a new outpost by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command.

The facility, inaugurated on Tuesday, is part of the Corps’ efforts to strengthen grassroots security and ensure quicker responses to emergencies within the Ilorin metropolis.

Speaking at the event, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Dr. Umar J.G. Mohammed, said the new outpost would play a vital role in enhancing community safety.

“This initiative is strategic for us. It brings security closer to the people and aligns with our mandate of protecting lives, property, and critical national assets. Our men will be stationed here to respond swiftly to distress calls and patrol the area,” he said.

Dr. Umar called on residents to complement the efforts of security operatives by providing timely information and collaborating with the Corps in curbing criminal activities.

The Chairman of the GRA Community, Pa Abidoye, expressed appreciation to the NSCDC for establishing the outpost, describing it as a step that will boost the confidence of residents.

“This development will go a long way in discouraging criminal elements from targeting our community. We are grateful to the Corps for prioritising our safety,” he remarked.

With the new outpost in place, officers will now be better positioned to prevent crime, respond promptly to emergencies, and deepen collaboration with residents towards a safer Ilorin.
