NOA Applauds Kwara for Using Giant Flagpole to Boost Patriotism and Tourism

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has hailed the Kwara State Government for erecting what is now the tallest flagpole in West Africa, describing the 70-meter structure as more than just a landmark — but a powerful symbol of unity, culture, and economic opportunity.

Director General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, praised the initiative, saying it reinforces the importance of national symbols in strengthening patriotism and identity. “The flag that now flies high over Kwara is not just a symbol of Nigeria’s sovereignty,” he said, “it represents the strength, unity, and cultural pride of the people who call this state home.”

He said the structure is in line with NOA’s mission to foster national values and promote a sense of belonging among Nigerians. According to him, “It is a reminder of our shared history, our collective destiny, and the beauty of Nigeria’s diversity.”

Beyond its visual impact, Issa-Onilu pointed to the economic and tourism potential of the project. He explained that such iconic infrastructure can attract visitors, spark local business growth, and position Kwara as a hub for cultural and historical exploration. “This flagpole is not just standing tall for aesthetics. It signals that Kwara is ready to open its doors to the world and create new opportunities for its people,” he said.

The NOA DG reaffirmed the agency’s support for initiatives that celebrate Nigeria’s heritage and called for more projects that reflect the country’s unity and potential. “Together, we can build a future that proudly showcases the best of Nigeria to the world,” he added.
