Nigerians Urged to Embrace Unity, Dialogue for National Advancement

The Convener of the Presidential Call for Advanced Nigeria (PCAN), Amb. (Prince) Jeffrey S. Adaralegbe, has called on Nigerians at home and abroad to recommit themselves to building a united, peaceful and prosperous nation, saying the dream of an advanced Nigeria must be a collective aspiration.

Speaking at the official launch of the PCAN Project in Abuja, Adaralegbe said Nigeria’s journey since independence has been marked by trials—from colonial rule and civil war to military regimes and socio-economic challenges—but stressed that a shift in mindset is needed to move the country forward.

“We must constantly remind ourselves of who we are as a people. Our history is one of resilience. But now, we must boldly embrace a future built on unity, peace and purposeful advancement,” he said.

Highlighting the role of cultural diversity, he noted that peace and unity can be achieved by promoting mutual respect, inclusivity and understanding among Nigerians of all backgrounds. He urged Nigerians to engage in cross-cultural dialogue and celebrate their differences rather than allowing them to divide the country.

“We need to break down stereotypes and build bridges of understanding. This starts with encouraging healthy conversations, cultural exchanges and the creation of inclusive spaces where every voice is heard,” he added.

Adaralegbe charged the media to be more deliberate in amplifying stories of inter-ethnic cooperation while urging law enforcement and government institutions to uphold fairness and impartiality for all citizens.

He described PCAN as a Social Orientation Campaign Project (SOCAP) aimed at reshaping public narratives from despair to hope and patriotism. According to him, the initiative seeks to promote ideological reawakening, moral realignment, and national cohesion through mass communication, cultural engagement, and value-based advocacy.

“This is more than a campaign; it is a call to rediscover the essence of our shared identity. We must stop cursing the land and start blessing it through action, through unity and by being ambassadors of a truly advanced Nigeria,” Adaralegbe said.

He emphasized that PCAN’s vision is to position Nigeria as a global leader driven by patriotic citizens and positive national values, while fostering a renewed sense of purpose among Nigerians.

“Our mission is to be the most admired advocates of Nigeria’s advancement, and our vision is for Nigeria to rise and take her rightful place in the comity of nations,” he concluded.

The event brought together stakeholders from various sectors who pledged their support for the PCAN project and its message of hope, unity and national rebirth.
