Kwara TESCOM Begins Transparent Recruitment of 1,800 Teachers, Applicants Laud Process

The Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has commenced screening and interviews for over 5,290 candidates seeking teaching appointments in public schools across the state.

The exercise, which runs from February 25 to March 1, 2025, involves a rigorous screening of credentials and a micro-teaching session before a panel of education experts. Civil society organizations are also monitoring the process to ensure transparency.

TESCOM Chairman, Mallam Bello Taoheed, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to merit-based recruitment, stating that only 1,800 of the best-qualified applicants would be selected.

“We will not lower the standards. This exercise is purely on merit, with a fair spread across the state. The goal is to digitize education in Kwara, and we are building on the progress made in 2021,” Taoheed said.

He added that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is committed to a credible and fair recruitment process, emphasizing that applicants who fail to meet the criteria will be disqualified.

Applicants interviewed praised the state government for ensuring a transparent and credible selection process.

Kazeem Kaosara Temitope, an applicant for a Commerce teaching position, expressed confidence in the fairness of the exercise. “From registration to the CBT exam and now the interview, everything has been well-organized. I give kudos to the government,” she said.

Similarly, Saheed Ajanaku, a Mathematics applicant, commended the administration’s zero tolerance for academic fraud, citing the successful recruitment of 4,701 teachers in 2021.

With over 5,928 applicants invited and 5,290 already participating, the TESCOM recruitment exercise continues to set a benchmark for credible teacher employment in Kwara State.
