The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has committed to providing full technical support to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as it integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its core operations.
The Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, CCIE, announced the partnership during a goodwill message at the CAC’s 35th-anniversary celebration, held at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Abuja Continental Hotel.
From Digitization to AI Integration
Commending the CAC for its resilience and steady growth trajectory, Inuwa noted that while many organizations struggle to maintain momentum, the Commission has remained a thriving entity. He credited the Registrar General’s leadership for prioritizing digital innovation from the onset.
However, Inuwa emphasized that basic digitization is no longer sufficient in the current technological landscape.
“We are in the AI era, and the only way to transform today is to embrace and integrate AI into your operations. This is exactly what the Registrar General is doing,” Inuwa stated.
Strengthening Business Ease and Cybersecurity
The NITDA boss outlined how AI integration will revolutionize the business environment in Nigeria:
Simplified Processes: AI will infuse intelligence into workflows, making it easier for citizens to register and manage companies.
Enhanced Speed: Building on the CAC’s achievement of reducing registration timelines from months to 24 hours, AI will further automate name searches and filings.
Fraud Prevention: Advanced AI tools will be deployed to curb hacking and the fraudulent alteration of company records, keeping the Commission steps ahead of cybercriminals.
Ethical Deployment and Guardrails
Recognizing the risks associated with emerging technologies, Inuwa assured that NITDA would oversee the responsible and ethical deployment of these tools. NITDA is currently reviewing the CAC’s AI transformation roadmap to provide necessary guidelines, standards, and training support.
“At NITDA, we will make sure you deploy ethical and responsible AI in your operations, with the right guardrails in place,” he added.
The event concluded with Inuwa congratulating the management and staff of the CAC, expressing confidence that the continued partnership between the two agencies will significantly bolster Nigeria’s digital business ecosystem.
