There was a formal change of leadership at the Nigeria Customs Service, Kwara Area Command, as Comptroller Faith Mathew Ojeifo handed over to Deputy Comptroller Najeem Akanmu Ogundeyi, who assumed duty as Acting Area Controller.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Comptroller Ojeifo thanked officers and men of the Command, sister security agencies and key stakeholders for their cooperation throughout his tenure, noting that their collective efforts contributed to notable successes.
“Together, we recorded commendable achievements in revenue generation, enforcement and service delivery,” he said.
Ojeifo expressed confidence in the capacity and professionalism of his successor, urging personnel of the Command to give him full support to ensure continuity and progress.
“I have absolute confidence in the leadership ability and experience of DC Najeem Ogundeyi. I appeal to all officers and men to accord him maximum loyalty and cooperation to enable him succeed,” he stated.
He also appreciated the Comptroller General of Customs for the opportunity to serve, while wishing the Kwara Command sustained peace, growth and operational excellence.
In his response, the new Acting Area Controller, DC Ogundeyi, expressed gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the management of the Service for entrusting him with the responsibility.
“I sincerely appreciate the Comptroller General and his management team for this rare opportunity to serve our nation in this capacity,” he said.
Ogundeyi also commended the outgoing Controller for his dedication and leadership, describing his tenure as impactful and worthy of emulation.
“Comptroller Faith Ojeifo’s commitment to duty, discipline and professionalism has laid a solid foundation for this Command, and we will continue to build on the achievements recorded,” he added.
The Acting Controller assured officers and stakeholders of his readiness to lead with responsibility, discipline and openness, stressing that he would rely on teamwork to deliver results.
“As I assume this office, I am fully aware of the responsibilities and challenges it entails. I do not take this assignment lightly. My leadership will be anchored on teamwork, professionalism, transparency and strict adherence to rules and regulations,” Ogundeyi said.
He further assured that officers would be motivated to give their best, noting that collective effort remains key to achieving the Command’s objectives.
Calling for cooperation from personnel, Ogundeyi pledged to consolidate on existing gains while addressing emerging challenges.
“Together, we shall work diligently to sustain achievements, confront new challenges and advance the progress of the Kwara Area Command,” he said.
The handover marks a new phase for the Command as it continues its mandate of revenue generation, border security and trade facilitation in the state.
