NIGERIA, AFREXIMBANK SIGN AGREEMENT TO HOST LANDMARK 2025 AFREXIMBANK’S (AAM2025) ANNUAL MEETINGS

By formally signing an agreement to host the 2025 Afreximbank Annual Meetings (AAM2025) in Abuja, Nigeria is positioned to take the lead in African trade and economic development.

Today, the signing ceremony was held at the Auditorium of the Federal Ministry of Finance Headquarters.
Mr. Wale Edun, the Nigerian government’s Honorable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, is in Abuja.

Professor Benedict Oramah, President of Afreximbank; Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Hon. Minister of Information and National Orientation; Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance; Mr. Raymond Omenka, Permanent Secretary, Special Duties; Kachollom Shangti Daju, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health; and Nura Abba, Ambassador for Trade and Investment, were also in attendance at the ceremony.

Afreximbank’s trust in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government and Nigeria’s contribution to promoting stronger trade throughout Africa is reflected in the country’s decision to host AAM2025.

The Honorable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, emphasized the importance of hosting the esteemed Meetings in his remarks at the event.

  • It is a privilege for Nigeria to host the 2025 Afreximbank Annual Meetings, which will provide a vital forum for advancing conversations on trade finance, economic expansion, and investment prospects throughout Africa.

He went on to say that the occasion *is a testament to our commitment to positioning Nigeria as a hub for economic transformation and strengthening Africa’s financial sector.

Professor Benedict Oramah, president of Afreximbank, praised Nigeria’s leadership in fostering trade and economic growth and said the nation’s hosting of the event would further solidify its position as a major player in determining the financial landscape of Africa.

Policymakers, investors, and financial specialists from around the globe gather at the Afreximbank Annual Meetings to discuss the economic opportunities and challenges facing Africa.

The 2025 edition will highlight Africa’s role in international trade and industrialization, as well as improving trade financing for African companies, bolstering cross-border trade and payment systems, and increasing opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs).

More than 5,000 delegates are anticipated to attend the high-level talks at the AAM2025, which is set to take place in Abuja from June 23 to June 27, 2025.

As preparations get under way, stakeholders are hopeful that AAM2025 will strengthen trade throughout Africa and solidify Nigeria’s standing as a top investment destination in the world.
