The National Youth Service Corps has stated that it is committed to encouraging value reorientation among Corps Members through the Orientation Course and service year periods.
It claimed that this would act as a spur for both national growth and social change.
This was stated today by NYSC Director General Brigadier General YD Ahmed during his keynote speech at the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Pre-Orientation Workshop in Jos, Plateau State.
“Value Reorientation Among the Youths: A Catalyst for National Rebirth” is the workshop’s theme, he said, and it aligns with the federal government’s goal of reorienting youths toward values for a better society.
The DG underlined that the Corps Members’ morale must always be maintained while directing all camp officials to act as mentors to the Corps Members.
Therefore, I urge everyone to participate fully in the discussions so that, at the conclusion of the workshop, comprehensive resolutions will be reached that will effectively utilize the Corps Members’ potential for the advancement of the country.
In order to achieve this, State Coordinators are supposed to constantly educate camp officials, Corps Members, and other camp community members about the value of being dedicated to whatever role or responsibility is given to them.
In all of our interactions with the corps members, we must also lead by example, the DG stated.
Additionally, the NYSC Chief Executive disclosed that sufficient measures have been implemented to guarantee that Corps Members have an unforgettable orientation experience.
As a result, the Director General ordered that all existing guidelines be strictly followed in order to ensure that the Orientation Course was executed successfully, as compliance would be closely monitored.
In his introductory remarks, Alhaji Ahmed Wada Ikaka, Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics, had earlier stated that the Scheme is collaborating closely with key players to guarantee a smooth implementation of the upcoming 2024 Batch ‘C’ Orientation Course.
All hands must be on deck to make the impressions worthwhile, according to Mr. Ikaka, who said that the Orientation Course is the first thing that all Corps Members see and leaves a positive and lasting impression on their minds.
The Department of State Services, Citizenship and Leadership Training Center, Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Army, Nigeria Police, National Health Insurance Authority, and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency were among the organizations that attended the workshop.
