North Central Farmers Laud Tinubu, Governors for Support, Seek More Agricultural Inputs

Amana Farmers and Grains Suppliers Association of Nigeria (AFGSAN), North Central zone, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and governors in the region for what it described as impactful leadership that has supported food production and agricultural growth across the country.

The group made this known in a congratulatory message signed by its North Central Zonal Chairman, Mallam Mohammed Salihu, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital. The message was released to mark President Tinubu’s second year in office.

Mallam Salihu praised President Tinubu’s efforts under the Renewed Hope Agenda, stating that the administration has “placed the country on a path of greatness” through its policies and support to critical sectors, especially agriculture.

He also extended his felicitations to North Central governors: Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara, Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi, Mohammad Umar Bago of Niger, Hyacinth Alia of Benue, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, Caleb Muftwang of Plateau, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

“The years spent in service by the President and governors are a clear testament to their resilience and commitment to development,” Salihu said. “As you celebrate, reflect, and strategize for the future, may your efforts be fruitful and your vision ever clearer.”

He appreciated the continuous support from both the federal and state governments towards the activities of AFGSAN, noting that such backing has helped make food more available and affordable to the average Nigerian.

Salihu also reaffirmed the association’s commitment to supporting government efforts to achieve food sufficiency across the country.

He, however, appealed to the federal and state governments to provide farming inputs and tractors ahead of the 2025 wet farming season. According to him, such assistance would significantly boost productivity and enable the association to fulfil its capacity to supply food to all tiers of government.

“We have the capacity to meet the food demands of both federal and state governments if given the necessary tools,” he stated.
