Mega Rally in Ilorin Signals Kwara North Unity, Backs Tinubu, 2027 Governorship Push

A large political gathering in Ilorin, Kwara State, has been described as a major show of unity within Kwara North politics, as stakeholders converged at the Metropolitan Square, Asa Dam, to declare support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid and renewed advocacy for the Kwara North governorship agenda in 2027.

The rally attracted traditional rulers, party leaders, youth groups, women associations, and delegates from all 16 local government areas of the state. It featured strong displays of solidarity and renewed political alignment within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A prominent voice at the event, APC chieftain and 2027 Kwara North senatorial aspirant, Dr. Mahmud Umar Muhammad (Sodangi Etsu Patigi), said the turnout reflected a growing sense of unity and shared direction among the people.

“What we are witnessing today is not ordinary politics. It is the voice of a people united in purpose. Kwara North is speaking for itself, not through proxies. This unity must be sustained if we truly want development and political balance in our state,” he said.

Dr. Mahmud, who moved around the venue engaging ward chairmen and women leaders from Patigi Local Government Area, expressed optimism that the increasing cohesion would strengthen Kwara North’s political bargaining power ahead of 2027.

He added: “We are committed to the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu because his administration is laying foundations for long-term growth. At the same time, Kwara North is ready and prepared to take its rightful place in the governorship of Kwara State in 2027.”

Traditional rulers and other political stakeholders at the rally also called for unity, stressing that a coordinated front would ensure greater political relevance and development for the region.

Observers described the mega rally as one of the largest political gatherings in recent times in Kwara State, noting that the momentum generated is likely to shape political negotiations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
