The Ministry of Interior has alerted the public about a fraudulent press release currently in circulation on various social media and messaging platforms. The fake document, dated August 11, 2026, concerns the ongoing recruitment exercise of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB). This misleading release is titled “CDCFIB Recruitment Update” and has been falsely attributed to the Honourable Minister of Interior, Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. The Ministry emphasized that this press release did not originate from any of their authorized channels. A key claim made in the fraudulent document is that the ongoing CDCFIB recruitment exercise has been deferred until after the 2027 general election. It cites alleged funding constraints as the reason for this supposed delay. The Ministry has now clarified that this is entirely untrue. In a strong rebuttal, the Ministry stated that neither the Minister’s office nor the CDCFIB issued this statement. Officials have categorically labelled the document as unauthorized, fake, and fraudulent. It was further confirmed that the Minister did not sign or issue any such statement regarding the recruitment. The Ministry unequivocally stated that no decision has been made to defer the recruitment until after the 2027 elections. They assured the public and potential candidates that the recruitment exercise is active and ongoing. Applicants and members of the public are strongly advised to disregard the fraudulent document in its entirety. They are warned against acting on any information contained within the fake press release or from other unverified sources. For all reliable information regarding the CDCFIB recruitment, the public should rely solely on updates published through the Ministry’s and CDCFIB’s verified platforms. This includes the official recruitment portal, accessible at cdcfib.gov.ng.
