The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters, Lagos, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has reaffirmed his commitment to professional policing, justice and respect for fundamental human rights while receiving a delegation of the Ilorin Emirates Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU).
The IEDPU delegation, led by its National President, Assistant Comptroller-General of Immigration, ACG A. A. AbdulMalik (Rtd.), paid a courtesy visit to AIG Jimoh at the Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, on Tuesday.
The visit also provided the union an opportunity to commend the AIG, a prominent indigene of Ilorin, for his distinguished career, professionalism and contributions to national service.
Speaking during the visit, ACG AbdulMalik thanked Almighty Allah for the continued grace and blessings upon AIG Jimoh, while praising his contributions to the development of Ilorin and his leadership in sustaining relative peace and security across Lagos and Ogun States.
He described the police chief as a disciplined, principled and dutiful officer whose conduct reflects good character and responsible citizenship.
According to him, AIG Jimoh’s professional disposition is consistent with the values promoted by Barakat Community Secondary School, Ilorin, Kwara State, established by IEDPU, where the police officer had his secondary education.
ACG AbdulMalik said the school was established not only to promote academic excellence but also to inculcate moral discipline, sound societal values and exemplary character in its students.
He expressed confidence that AIG Jimoh would continue to discharge his responsibilities with diligence and integrity, uphold the rule of law and always stand for what is right.
Responding, AIG Jimoh expressed appreciation to the IEDPU leadership and members of the delegation for the visit and the goodwill shown to him.
The AIG acknowledged the union’s longstanding interest in his career and thanked it for its continued support and encouragement.
He said the recognition was not merely an honour but also a reminder of the enormous responsibility attached to public service.
AIG Jimoh reaffirmed that his administration at Zone 2 would remain committed to professional policing and the constitutional mandate of the Nigeria Police Force.
He stressed that his actions would continue to be guided by the rule of law, respect for fundamental human rights, justice and fairness.
“Justice will be pursued without fear or favour, irrespective of an individual’s social status, position or class,” AIG Jimoh assured.
The police boss further pledged that Zone 2 Headquarters would continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to safeguard lives and property, maintain public order and create a safer environment for residents of Lagos and Ogun States.
The courtesy visit underscored the importance of cooperation between the police and community-based organisations in strengthening public confidence and promoting peace and security.
