Kwara Police, Traditional Rulers Strengthen Security Collaboration in Omu-Aran, Iloffa Engagement Drive

The Kwara State Police Command has intensified its community policing efforts with a strategic visit and security dialogue in Omu-Aran and Iloffa Area Command, aimed at strengthening intelligence-led policing and deepening collaboration with residents and stakeholders.

The Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, carried out the operational engagement in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, focusing on enhanced intelligence gathering, proactive crime prevention, and stronger police-community partnership.

On arrival, the CP was received by the Area Commander of Omu-Aran Area Command, ACP Muazu Ismail, alongside senior officers of the Command. The delegation first paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba AbdulRaheem Oladele Adeoti, where discussions centred on prevailing security concerns and the need for continuous cooperation between traditional institutions and security agencies.

Speaking during the engagement, CP Ojo Adekimi stressed the importance of unity in maintaining peace across the axis. “Security is a shared responsibility. The Police alone cannot succeed without the active support of traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents. We are committed to working closely with everyone to ensure lasting peace in Kwara State,” he said.

In response, Oba AbdulRaheem Oladele Adeoti, Akolade Agboluaje Olomu Efon II, commended the Police Command for its proactive approach to security management, pledging continued support through intelligence sharing and community sensitisation. “We are satisfied with the level of collaboration so far and we assure the Police of our continuous support in maintaining peace in our communities,” the monarch stated.

The CP and his entourage later proceeded to the Omu-Aran City Hall for a wider security stakeholders’ engagement, which brought together local government chairmen, religious leaders, youth groups, members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), political representatives, and other security agencies.

At the forum, Mr. Timothy Avele of Agent-X Security Ltd presented a paper titled “Defeating Terrorism with Super-Intelligence Technology, Equipment, and Citizens’ Cooperation,” where he advocated the use of modern surveillance tools, intelligence systems, and active citizen participation in tackling emerging security threats.

CP Adekimi reiterated the Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing, assuring residents of swift response to security concerns. “The Kwara State Police Command remains resolute in protecting lives and property. We will continue to strengthen partnerships and adopt innovative strategies to stay ahead of criminal elements,” he added.

Stakeholders at the meeting also expressed support for sustained collaboration, calling for unity, vigilance, and continuous engagement among residents and security agencies to safeguard peace in the area.
