The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has begun strategic preparations to ensure a safe and hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration across the state.
State Commandant, Bala Bawa Bodinga, on Monday met with heads of departments and commanders of tactical units to review security arrangements and map out an operational plan ahead of the festive period.
The meeting, held at the Ade Abolurin Hall of the command headquarters in Ilorin, focused on strengthening the state’s security architecture and deploying personnel effectively to maintain peace before, during and after the Sallah celebrations.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayoola Michael Shola, the commandant tasked field officers to intensify surveillance and step up visibility patrols across strategic locations in the state.
Bodinga directed area commanders, divisional officers and tactical units to pay special attention to Eid prayer grounds, markets, highways, recreation centres and other public places that usually attract large gatherings during the festivities.
“We must intensify surveillance and visibility patrols across identified flashpoints and other public locations to guarantee a hitch-free Sallah celebration for residents of Kwara State,” the commandant said during the meeting.
He also emphasised the need for stronger collaboration with other security agencies and communities to enhance intelligence gathering and prompt information sharing.
According to him, proactive engagement with residents and inter-agency cooperation remain critical to preventing potential security threats during the festive season.
Bodinga further urged officers participating in the special operation to maintain professionalism and respect for human rights while carrying out their responsibilities.
“Our officers must discharge their duties with the highest level of professionalism while maintaining a community-friendly approach at all times,” he added.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives, property and critical national assets across the state, assuring residents of a secure environment to celebrate the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr in peace.
