OHCSF refutes misleading claim of Plotting Illegally Extention of a serving Permanent Secretary’s Tenure.

According to some online media reports, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and the Ministers of Defense are allegedly planning to illegally prolong the term of Mr. Gabriel Tanimu Aduda, Permanent Secretary for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This has caught the attention of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF). The OHCSF vehemently opposes any intention to ask for Mr. Aduda’s or any other Permanent Secretary’s term to be extended.
 

Every decision pertaining to a Permanent Secretary’s tenure or retirement is made rigorously in accordance with the regulations and with the consent of the relevant authority. We reaffirm our commitment to upholding the Public Service Rules, guaranteeing a safe and reliable system.
 
According to Rule 020909 (b) of the Public Service Rules, 2021, a Permanent Secretary may serve for a maximum of four years and may be reappointed for an additional four years, provided they perform satisfactorily. It is true that these rules are the law.
