NYSC Commends Exemplary Corps Members for Promoting Nation-Building Values

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has applauded past and present participants in the scheme for upholding its ideals through exceptional conduct and impactful contributions to community development.

In a statement issued after a dinner organized in Abuja to honor outstanding members in Community Development Service (CDS), the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed, expressed pride in the contributions of corps members, whom he described as “NYSC ambassadors.” He noted that their dedication continues to sustain the relevance of the scheme in national development.

Particularly commending members of the NYSC anti-corruption CDS group, Brigadier General Ahmed lauded their efforts in promoting transparency and the fight against corruption. “Nigeria can only achieve greatness when its youth contribute meaningfully to nation-building by upholding the values of hard work, resilience, and honesty,” he said.

One of the honorees, Olanrewaju John Shola, who received a Certificate of Merit for his role in the NYSC anti-corruption CDS group, expressed gratitude on behalf of the awardees. Olanrewaju, who served during the 2008 Batch ‘B’ service year in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, pledged to continue promoting the ideals of the scheme in his professional endeavors.

“I appreciate the NYSC management for recognizing us years after our service year. This acknowledgment inspires us to uphold and spread the noble values of honesty and integrity,” Olanrewaju said.

The NYSC statement revealed that the anti-corruption CDS initiative was executed in collaboration with the Code of Conduct Bureau under the Presidency. It highlighted Olanrewaju’s significant contributions as an honorary member of the group, describing his efforts as a benchmark for future participants.

The NYSC emphasized that such commendable conduct reinforces the scheme’s mission to foster unity, development, and good governance in Nigeria.
