NSCDC Moves to Secure Kwara with 2,900 Officers Ahead of Eid-el-Kabir Festivities

As Muslims in Kwara State prepare for the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has assured residents of a peaceful holiday, announcing the deployment of 2,900 personnel across the state.

The State Commandant, Dr. Umar J.G. Mohammed, made this known in a statement released through the Public Relations Officer, ASC I Ayoola Michael Shola, in Ilorin.

According to the command, officers will be strategically posted across all 16 local government areas to secure key infrastructure, prayer grounds, recreation centres, and other locations likely to attract large gatherings during the Sallah period.

“Our presence will be visible, coordinated, and reassuring. We have assessed the risk areas, identified critical points, and implemented a multi-layered approach to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration,” Commandant Umar said.

He directed Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, and Tactical Units to remain on high alert and intensify community engagement to prevent any form of security breach.

The command also issued a stern warning to anyone planning to disrupt the peace during the festivities, particularly those with intentions to vandalize infrastructure or incite unrest.

“Any individual or group caught attempting to sabotage the peaceful atmosphere will face swift and decisive consequences, in accordance with the law,” he added.

While congratulating Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, the Commandant urged the public to remain security conscious and cooperate with security operatives by reporting any suspicious activity promptly.
