In a high-powered meeting focused on the future of Nigeria’s digital landscape, the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa CCIE, hosted his NBC counterpart, Mr. Charles Ebuebu, to blueprint a strategic alliance between technology and media regulation. The “Culture-First” Transformation Inuwa revealed that NITDA’s secret to success wasn’t just software, but a radical cultural overhaul. To move from a “bureaucratic” civil service to a “high-velocity” tech hub, NITDA focused on three pillars: People, Process, and Technology. ”Culture is the foundation,” Inuwa stated. “No matter how good a strategy is, without the right culture, execution will fail.” Death of Red Tape: NITDA audited 396 internal processes, slashing repetitive approvals and empowering departments to act as gatekeepers. AI-Powered Workforce: Every NITDA staff member has undergone mandatory AI training, shifting roles from manual administration to AI-driven system management. Psychological Safety: The agency fostered an environment where staff can challenge old processes without fear, driving horizontal innovation. Recognizing that media and technology have converged, NBC DG Charles Ebuebu described the partnership as “long overdue.” He emphasized that a united front is essential to regulate evolving media, protect national interests, and boost local content. NITDA isn’t just offering advice—it’s offering its Digital Transformation Playbook. The partnership will include: Framework Sharing: Exporting NITDA’s transformation model to NBC. Capacity Building: Enrolling NBC staff in global digital literacy programs (e.g., Cisco). Modern Regulation: Aligning regulatory frameworks to match the rapid pace of media-tech convergence.
