KWASU Secures Full NUC Accreditation for 21 Programmes, VC Commends Staff Commitment

Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has secured full accreditation for 21 of its undergraduate programmes from the National Universities Commission (NUC), marking a significant academic milestone for the institution. An additional four programmes received interim accreditation.

This was announced in a statement by the Acting Director of University Relations, Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, and made available to journalists in Ilorin.

The accreditation followed the NUC’s October/November 2024 accreditation exercise and was officially communicated in a letter dated April 30, 2025, signed by the Commission’s Acting Director of Accreditation, Engineer Abraham Chundusu.

Programmes that received full accreditation for five years include Taxation, Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Management, Food Engineering, Biochemistry, Environmental Management and Toxicology, and Physics. Others are Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, Special Education, French, Islamic Studies, Arabic, Computer Science, Business Education, Early Childhood Education, Educational Management, Agriculture Education, Biology Education, Physics Education, and Chemistry Education.

The four programmes with interim accreditation—valid for two years—are French, Mathematics Education, English Education, and Yoruba Education.

Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, expressed satisfaction with the outcome and commended both academic and administrative staff for their efforts.

“This result reflects the commitment and hard work of our academic and administrative staff. We will continue to provide the needed support for academic excellence, research, and community service,” he said.

Professor Jimoh also urged all stakeholders to remain dedicated to enhancing KWASU’s academic reputation and raising its standards even further.
