Kwara NSCDC Expands Security Reach with New Divisional Offices in Ilorin

Security presence in Kwara State has received a significant boost as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) commissioned two new divisional offices in Ilorin West and Ilorin South Local Government Areas, a move aimed at enhancing rapid response and strengthening grassroots safety.

Representing Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq at the commissioning, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Segun Ogunsola, described security as the “bedrock of development” and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting security agencies. He praised the Corps for its dedication to safeguarding lives and property, noting that its proactive measures have helped address security challenges across the state.

Ilorin West Local Government Chairman, Hon. Abdulrahman Babatunde Laden, said the new facilities would give NSCDC personnel the conducive environment needed to carry out their duties effectively. “Development can only thrive in a peaceful atmosphere,” he stressed, pledging continued support to the Corps.

Similarly, Ilorin South Local Government Chairman, Hon. Nuhu Majeed Podo, described the new divisional office as a vital security hub for the area. He urged officers to remain steadfast and professional, assuring that the council would provide all necessary backing to ensure safety in the community.

Kwara NSCDC Commandant, Dr. Umar J.G. Mohammed, commended both council chairmen for prioritising security. He revealed that the Ilorin West Division is now the largest in the state and noted that within his two years in office, the Command has commissioned 14 divisional offices across Kwara to extend security presence to rural and urban communities.

“To whom much is given, much is expected,” Dr. Umar said, assuring residents of the Corps’ readiness to combat crime and provide a secure environment. He also thanked the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for his leadership in transforming the Corps into a globally respected security institution, and expressed appreciation to Governor AbdulRazaq for creating an enabling environment for their operations.
