Kwara Mourns Former Head of Service, Oluwole, as Tributes Pour in for Her Legacy of Integrity and Excellence

The Kwara State Government and civil service community have paid glowing tributes to the former Head of Service, Mrs. Susan Modupe Oluwole, who passed away recently, describing her as a paragon of integrity, professionalism, and devoted service.

Speaking at a wake-keep ceremony held in her honour at the State Banquet Hall in Ilorin, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, represented by his deputy, Elder Kayode Alabi, said Mrs. Oluwole was a pillar of the state’s civil service and an exceptional leader whose legacy would endure for generations.

“As we pay our last respects to a remarkable and dedicated public servant, I must say that her passing is not just a loss to her family but to the entire state. She carried out her duties with wisdom, professionalism, and a deep sense of responsibility,” the Governor said.

He noted that Mrs. Oluwole’s impact on the bureaucracy was deeply rooted in values of diligence and fairness, adding, “Her legacy will continue to inspire many in the civil service. May her gentle soul rest in peace.”

Former Head of Service in Kwara, Alhaji Salman Adelodun Ibrahim, described the late Oluwole, fondly called ‘Dupe’, as a committed and energetic administrator whose tenure was marked by dedication and transparency.

“One thing that always stood out about Dupe was her unwavering enthusiasm and loyalty to every assignment. She made her mark in the reform of the civil service, and her memory will remain golden,” Ibrahim said.

Prince Ayo Fagbemi, Chairman of the Association of Retired Permanent Secretaries in the state, also praised Mrs. Oluwole for leading with fairness and godly principles, especially during tough periods in the service.

“Her leadership was guided by the fear of God, equity, and justice. Her retirement should have been a time of rest and further mentorship, but her exit came too soon,” he said.

Classmates and friends, including Adefunke Oyinloye, President of the Saint Clare’s Class of 1982, and Mrs. Opeyemi Oladipupo, recalled her brilliance and unwavering character from childhood.

In a heartfelt tribute, family representative Barrister Rotimi Bello expressed gratitude to the Governor and others who supported the deceased throughout her life, noting that her commitment to family and society would be deeply missed.

The ceremony was filled with fond memories and emotional reflections on a woman who not only rose to the peak of her career but also lived a life of purpose and service.
