The Executive of the Federal Public Service Games (FEPSGA) has received praise from Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), for incorporating the Paralympic Games into this year’s FPS Games to include Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
She made the statement on Thursday, October 24, 2024, in her Abuja office while meeting with the FEPSGA Executive, which was chaired by President Mr. Aloku Amaebi. The purpose of the meeting was to update the HCSF on the games that will be held in Port Harcourt the following month.
Mrs. Walson-Jack recognized the vital role FEPSGA plays in the service, stressing that the games are the primary means by which civil servants maintain their physical and emotional well-being. “Worker productivity and service delivery will improve when the mind and body are healthy,” she continued.
According to her, the games will foster unity among civil servants and provide opportunities for networking in addition to fostering enduring friendships.
The HCSF also expressed hope that the games would be a success and thanked the Rivers State government for agreeing to host the 43rd edition of the competition in the state.
In her welcome remarks, Dr. Comfort Adeosun, Director, Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office, thanked the HCSF for providing employees with the chance to enhance their health and well-being by participating in athletic events such as FEPSGA. According to her, the games will also support healthy living and increase the mental and physical acuity of civil servants.
In his previous speech, Mr. Aloku Amaebi, the National President of FEPSGA, stated that the organization was founded in 1980 with the intention of encouraging harmony and constructive competition among Federal Public Servants through sports.
Amaebi revealed that the Paralympic Games are being added to the games for the first time in order to foster an inclusive culture that recognizes and encourages the amazing abilities of all athletes, including those with disabilities.
Additionally, he stated that the yearly occasion fosters industry, tourism, hospitality, and commerce.
Amaebi revealed that this year’s games will be the second the state hosts, and that the local organizing committee, established by the Rivers State Government, is doing everything in its power to make sure the event is a success.
In order to promote sportsmanship within the Federal Public Service and improve the physical health of public employees, the Federal Public Service Games are an annual athletic event that unites the sports clubs within the Ministries Extra-Ministerial Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
