The Federal Fire Service (FFS) management has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic event that happened at approximately 11:00 PM on Friday at the NITEL Junction in Wuse 2, Abuja. Three young people were killed and one survivor was critically injured in a collision between one of the FFS’s rescue trucks and a Toyota Camry.
The FFS released a statement on Sunday expressing its deep sadness over the incident and sending its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased.
The Service emphasized that the victims’ bright futures were tragically cut short and acknowledged the significant loss and suffering endured by the families.
Additionally, the FFS offers prayers for the survivor’s quick recovery. The survivor is presently undergoing medical care at an unseen hospital.
Our service expresses its sorrow over the tragic event that resulted in the deaths of three teenagers. Given the ages of the children involved in this tragic accident, we are aware that their family is going through a trying time.
“The Federal Fire Service is aware that losing a child changes a family’s life drastically and is a very painful experience that involves a wide range of depressing emotions.”
According to the statement, the accident happened while one of the fire trucks was on its way to refill its water supply after it had run out during a firefighting operation at Avenue Plaza, Banex. At the intersection, the truck, its siren blaring, was traveling at full speed when it struck the Toyota Camry, which was pulling out of a connecting street.
We would like to make it clear that the Controller-General (CG) was out of town at the time of the incident and cannot be reached right away because of network problems. After being notified, the CG quickly went back to Abuja to meet with the families who were impacted.
He has since directed a comprehensive inquiry into the accident’s causes and will personally lead a delegation to offer the families of the deceased his condolences.
The police have detained the driver and suspended the staff at the FCT rescue center until the investigation is finished, despite the fact that a dedicated team has been assembled to look into the tragic incident.
To everyone impacted by this tragic incident, the Federal Fire Service extends its sincere condolences and reaffirms its unwavering dedication to protecting people and property.
