On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu issued an order to conduct an audit of the Federal Civil Service of the Federation’s workforce and skills gaps.
Information about open positions and areas where the service lacks specific skills can be produced thanks to the skills gap.
The President emphasized that the skills gap analysis will increase the Civil Service’s capability while speaking at the International Civil Service Conference in Abuja.
Putting the right people in the right roles is the only way we can ensure the high-performance culture our nation deserves,” he said. In order to increase capacity, I have approved a thorough personnel audit and skills gap analysis for the Federal Civil Service.
“In order to start implementing specific reforms and reap the full benefits of a more responsive, competent, and agile Civil Service, I implore all accountable stakeholders to give the timely completion of this crucial exercise top priority.
By securing these platforms in nearby or affiliated data centers, data sovereignty and privacy are maintained. We will implement evidence-based governance, improve our international standing, and create a proactive public service that anticipates the needs of every Nigerian on the basis of this foundation of reliable, secure, and internationally accessible information.” He also said
According to him, the conference needs to be a catalyst for genuine change rather than just a ceremonial event or a talk shop.
“I implore all public servants and stakeholders to return to their organizations with a fresh sense of purpose and energy, embrace innovation as a responsibility, and expedite the rollout of policies and services that enhance the quality of life for all Nigerians. Now is the moment to take action.
The president said, “Today, as we come together under the common ideals of service excellence, we pledge to establish partnerships that cut across national borders, use technology for the benefit of all, and elevate the civil service as a beacon of hope and progress for all nations.”
He pointed out that the conference, which is a convergence of ideas, is a historic occasion and a daring move to redefine governance in a time of swift change.
“The theme of this inaugural conference, “Rejuvenate, Innovate & Accelerate!” is relevant, appropriate, and captivating. It encapsulates our shared goal of rethinking and redefining the Service. Innovation is still essential in today’s quickly changing technological landscape to make sure the Civil Service is a vibrant, ethical, digital, and globally competitive organization.
“We can meet today’s demands and overcome tomorrow’s obstacles if we have a creative civil service.
He asserted that civil servants are not only the foundation of efficient cross-border administration, but also its fundamental component.
“You play a crucial role as the unsung heroes of innovation, stability, and public confidence. We have been guided through economic cycles, constitutional changes, and the consolidation of social democracy by the Civil Service, which is the means by which the government provides public goods.
“The foundation of any reform we undertake is data that is sovereign, secure, and accurate. Although data is the new oil, its value rises with refinement and responsible sharing, unlike oil.
In order to ensure the highest standards for data protection and privacy, I thus give all Ministries, Extra-Ministerial Departments, and Agencies strict instructions to gather information, protect it in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, and promptly make it available to the public.
He stated that verified datasets must be published in Nigeria and shared with internationally recognized repositories, emphasizing that Nigerian data must be permitted to speak for Nigeria.
“This will help us improve our standing on the international scene by enabling real-time tracking of our progress by global benchmarking organizations.
