By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

In a passionate and transformative session, an expert and renowned addiction prevention advocate, Margaret Kwa’ada Julius has energized the Kilba (Huba) Christian Association (KCA) Nasarawa /Kudenda Unit with a groundbreaking Biblical Addiction Prevention Train-the-Trainers Program.

Addressing the growing crises of addiction, Margaret emphasized that it is not simply a moral failing but a bio-psycho-socio-spiritual disease, as recognized by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).

She urged Christian families to combine faith with knowledge, quoting Hosea 4:6 “My people perish for lack of knowledge” and called on parents to renew their spiritual responsibilities, particularly fathers, warning that emotional neglect often fuels addiction and mental health struggles.

The KCA Nasarawa/Kudenda Unit leader, Mr. Ibrahim Abuti, praised Margaret’s message, while Evangelist Dr. Phanuel Dzarma prayed for her growing impact. Participants overwhelmingly requested further training sessions, signaling a new movement for faith-based prevention, treatment, and recovery across the community.

Margaret Kwa’ada Julius, founder of the Njirhoba Multipurpose Cooperative Society/Foundation (popularly known as Njirhoba), is a three-time WHO World No Tobacco Day Award winner, a 2024 Global SUD Prevention Award recipient, and a celebrated advocate for humanitarian and community development causes.

Among the distinguished guests, at occasion includes the Sarkin Kilba (Hoba) of Kudenda, Sarki Ada Bitrus Theman.

The event was concluded with a prayer led by Evangelist Philip Joda, marking the beginning of a fresh faith-based response to addiction challenges in the Huba community.
