The Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), National Assembly, Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, has expressed his condolences to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, GCON, Ph.D, over the death of the Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Adewumi Oriyomi Onanuga.

In a statement issued and Signed on Thursday, January 16, 2025, by his Media Adviser, Mohammad Abdulkadri, the NILDS DG described the late lawmaker as a consummate public servant and a virtuous woman of excellence.

Professor Sulaiman lauded Hon. Onanuga, who represented the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency in Ogun State, for her simplicity, humility, and vibrancy in championing national interests, gender inclusivity, and her outspokenness in the House of Representatives.

“Rt. Hon. Onanuga will be greatly missed for her unwavering dedication to the legislature and her remarkable contributions to the nation’s development,” he stated.

The DG further extended his heartfelt condolences to the leadership and members of the House of Representatives, the late lawmaker’s constituents, and her family, while praying for God’s blessings on her gentle soul.
