Aremu’s Leadership Lauded at Send-forth Celebration by Lower Niger River Basin Authority

The outgoing Managing Director of the Lower Niger River Basin Authority (LNRBA), Dr. Adeniyi Aremu, has been commended for his innovation, hard work, and fairness during his eight years of leadership.

Speaking at a send-forth programme organized in his honour in Ilorin, the Legal Director of LNRBA, Barr. Sodiq Onimisi, described Aremu as a transformative leader whose tenure positively impacted both staff and the Authority.

“We have progressed and advanced under the leadership of Aremu, and we are better off than we were,” Onimisi remarked.

He highlighted key achievements under Aremu’s leadership, including infrastructural transformations at the Authority’s headquarters, schools, roads, and the creation of the Omu-Aran area office to extend operations across all senatorial districts.

Other accomplishments listed include the acquisition of vast lands for irrigation in Kwara and Kogi states and the commissioning of multiple projects such as five dams, over 1,500 boreholes, 16 water treatment plants, and two Shonga Model Farms.

The Director of Agricultural Services, Alhaji Muftau Morounfoye, also praised Aremu for his humility, respect for staff, and relentless dedication.

“He should continue to exhibit these exemplary qualities wherever he finds himself in life,” Morounfoye advised.

In his reaction, Dr. Adeniyi Aremu expressed gratitude to the staff for organizing the event and attributed his achievements to collective hard work and cooperation.

“We started with infrastructure development and capacity-building for staff, and today, we’ve fulfilled the mandate of the Authority in terms of water for multipurpose use,” he stated.

Aremu also noted that his tenure aligned with the President’s objectives on employment generation, job creation, and economic development.

Reflecting on key milestones, he mentioned a Memorandum of Understanding initiated in 2017 to release 4,000 hectares of land for agricultural and developmental purposes.

Outgoing directors, including Mr. Rasheed Oyedeji and Dr. Moses Babatunde, lauded Aremu’s principled administration and advised staff to remain committed to the Authority’s progress.

The event marked a historic moment for LNRBA as stakeholders celebrated Aremu’s legacy of development and leadership.
