The award was presented to the Governor on Tuesday in Ilorin by the National President of NACJ, Dr Charles Okhai, who said the choice of AbdulRazaq followed a rigorous evaluation process that placed Kwara ahead of four other states.
Dr Okhai noted that AbdulRazaq’s administration distinguished itself in sectors such as education, road infrastructure, healthcare, youth empowerment, and public service reforms.
“Your government’s focus on people-oriented development, regular promotion and prompt payment of workers’ salaries, and the transparent recruitment of over 8,600 teachers reflect genuine leadership anchored on integrity and fairness,” Okhai said. “Our assessment was purely based on performance, not religion or politics. You have proven that governance can indeed serve the people.”
Receiving the award, Governor AbdulRazaq expressed gratitude to the Association for the recognition, dedicating the honour to the people of Kwara State for their continuous support.
“This award is for every Kwara citizen whose trust and cooperation have strengthened our resolve to build a better state,” the Governor said. “It reinforces our commitment to transparency, accountability, and delivering political goods to the greatest number of people.”
He highlighted that Kwara State has consistently ranked high in national and international assessments on transparency and good governance, including those conducted by the World Bank and other global institutions.
“In the past six years, no administration since 1999 has executed as many projects in road networks, education, health, sports, and technology as ours,” AbdulRazaq added. “We are connecting communities, empowering youths, and improving access to essential services. But we are not resting—we are determined to do more.”
The Governor also extended appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continuous support to Kwara State, describing the collaboration between both levels of government as vital to sustaining the state’s development strides.
The NACJ delegation, led by Dr Okhai and accompanied by Mr Nasir Lawal, lauded AbdulRazaq’s inclusive governance style, describing him as a model for ethical leadership in Nigeria.
