Global Win: Nigeria Leads the Way in Digital Innovation!

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has achieved a major milestone on the global stage, earning prestigious recognition at the 2026 International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Golden World Awards held in Athens, Greece.

In a standout collaboration with Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR) and the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC), the agency secured two Golden World Awards. The honors were awarded across two key categories: Artificial Intelligence in Crisis Management and Publication.

At the heart of this global acclaim is the Crisis Communication Hub (CCHub), a groundbreaking national framework designed to revolutionize how emergencies are handled. The initiative was developed following an extensive empirical research study on AI and crisis response supported directly by NITDA.

The project sets a new standard for modern public communications through three primary pillars. First, it introduces smart AI governance by utilizing advanced algorithmic tools for proactive social listening and real-time crisis monitoring.

Second, the initiative acts as a vital line of defense against digital threats, actively detecting deepfakes, tracking misinformation, and mitigating fake news to safeguard public trust. Third, it establishes a coordinated framework that unites national stakeholders for swift, unified responses during communication emergencies.

The prestigious accolades were formally presented during an elite gathering of global leaders at the iconic Hotel Grande Bretagne in Athens. Accepting the honors on behalf of Nigeria were Hajiya Hadiza Umar, representing NITDA, alongside Professor Yau Sule of IMPR.

This landmark victory underscores NITDA’s ongoing mission to drive digital literacy, foster ethical AI deployment, and position Nigeria at the forefront of global technological and communication innovation.
