Medaiyese Hails Appointment of Gen. Musa, Says Nigeria Gains a Seasoned Defender

Former Labour Party chieftain and 2023 Kogi State House of Assembly candidate, Hon. Oluwatosin Medaiyese, has congratulated Nigeria’s newly appointed Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa, describing his emergence as a major boost to the nation’s security architecture.

In his congratulatory message, Medaiyese said Gen. Musa’s appointment reflects President Bola Tinubu’s confidence in competence and proven leadership. “Your appointment is a testament to your proven leadership, dedication to national service, and unwavering commitment to the peace and security of our nation,” he said.

He expressed optimism that the former Chief of Defence Staff will bring his wealth of operational and administrative experience to bear in tackling insecurity. “I am confident that your experience will contribute significantly to strengthening our armed forces, enhancing national security, and safeguarding the unity and stability of Nigeria,” Medaiyese stated.

Medaiyese prayed for a successful tenure for the new minister, saying, “I pray that God grants you the wisdom, courage and vision needed to excel in this noble assignment.”

Gen. Musa, who led the Armed Forces as Chief of Defence Staff between June 2023 and October 2025, is widely respected for his role in counter-insurgency operations, particularly in the Northeast. His appointment follows the resignation of Mohammed Badaru Abubakar due to health reasons. He was nominated by President Tinubu on December 2, 2025, and confirmed by the Senate a day later.

With rising security challenges, including banditry, insurgency and kidnappings, Nigerians will be watching how Musa deploys his experience to strengthen national defence and restore confidence across affected communities.
