Doctor Arrested in Jebba for Supplying Drugs to Kidnappers in Kwara

A medical doctor alleged to be a key courier for kidnapping syndicates operating across parts of Kwara State has been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services in the Jebba area.

Security sources revealed that the doctor was apprehended while transporting medical supplies from Sokoto to criminal hideouts believed to be located within forested communities in the state. The arrest followed days of intelligence gathering on the movements of couriers linked to the gangs.

According to a senior security official, the kidnapping networks have become increasingly desperate for medical attention as many of their members suffer gunshot wounds from confrontations with security operatives. “These criminals are seeking treatment to stay alive after their encounters with security forces, and that is why they are turning to compromised medical personnel,” the official said.

He added that security agencies are urging hospitals and clinics situated near forest corridors to heighten vigilance. “We are advising improved security measures in health facilities in thickly forested areas which the kidnappers may target,” he cautioned.

The DSS is expected to intensify its operations as the investigation into the doctor’s links with the gangs continues.
