Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has described the passing of Major General Abdullahi Adangba (rtd) as a monumental loss to Kwara State and Nigeria, mourning him as a rare breed of soldier, administrator, and statesman whose impact transcended borders.

General Adangba, who died at the age of 86, was a former military governor of Benue-Plateau State and also served in several high-profile national security roles, including Director General of the defunct National Security Organization (NSO), National Security Adviser to former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, and Chief of Staff to former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umar Musa Yar’Adua.

In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, Governor AbdulRazaq said General Adangba’s death marked “a painful closure of a bright page in Nigeria’s political and military history.”

“The late General Abdullahi Adangba was an accomplished soldier and administrator whose life reflected courage, patriotism, and commitment to the service of humanity. His death is a huge loss to the Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State, and the entire nation,” the Governor stated.

He extended his condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the people of Ilorin Emirate, the deceased’s family, and the Nigerian military community, praying Allah to grant the late General eternal rest in Al-jannah Firdaus and give his loved ones the fortitude to bear the loss.
