Nigerian Army Equips 226 Personnel with Fresh Logistics and Safety Skills

The Nigerian Army has stepped up its drive to enhance operational efficiency with the graduation of 226 officers and soldiers from the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport (NASST), Benin. The personnel completed six specialised courses in logistics, fire safety, driving, catering, and store management.

Commandant of the school, Maj.-Gen. Adebayo Adegbite, said the training was part of the Army’s third-quarter programme for 2025. He listed the courses as Fire and Safety Officers Course, Fire and Safety Upgrading Course, Driver Upgrading Course, Driver Basic Course, Supply/Storeman Upgrading Course, and Catering Basic Course.

“I am confident that the students are eagerly waiting to put into practice the lessons learnt from this elaborate and demanding training,” Adegbite stated, while commending the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, for his continuous support to the institution.

He also praised the trainers, led by Deputy Commandant Brig.-Gen. K. E. Inyang, and external partners such as the Edo State Fire Service, University of Benin, 7UP Bottling Company, and Guinness Nigeria, describing their input as invaluable.

Special Guest of Honour, Maj.-Gen. Ebun Mustapha, Director of Communication Satellite at the Defence Space Administration, urged the graduates to uphold professionalism and deploy their new skills in service of the nation.

“Today, we celebrate the remarkable achievements of our graduating students. Your skills and expertise will be invaluable assets as you embark on your military careers,” Mustapha told the participants, adding that roles in supply, catering, and transport remain central to Army operations.

Brig.-Gen. Inyang explained that the training combined classroom lectures, seminars, industrial attachments, and fire safety drills in Edo institutions to prepare participants for real-life challenges. “Discipline remained a watchword throughout the training,” he said.

The event climaxed with the presentation of certificates to the graduates, who will now be deployed to different formations across the country to strengthen the Army’s logistics backbone.
