President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has showered encomiums on Vice President Kashim Shettima as he clocks 59 years, describing him as a loyal partner and dependable ally in the task of nation-building.
In a goodwill message on Tuesday, Tinubu said Shettima has demonstrated uncommon courage, commitment and patriotism in his service to Nigeria. He recalled Shettima’s tenure as Governor of Borno State and Senator representing Borno Central, noting that he had always treated leadership as service rather than privilege.
“You served the people of Borno excellently as governor for eight years and later as senator. In both roles, you showed that leadership is service, not privilege, even in the face of immense challenges,” Tinubu said.
The President said his decision to choose Shettima as his deputy was based on competence, vision, and character, stressing that the Vice President has justified that choice by bringing fresh ideas and unwavering support to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Every day as Vice President, you have strengthened our work and upheld our commitment to Nigerians. Your dedication reassures me that I did not make a mistake in choosing you,” Tinubu declared.
He further commended Shettima’s role in forging new partnerships abroad and advancing reforms in food security, investments, and infrastructure at home, assuring that their joint efforts would continue to yield visible results for Nigerians.
“Our relationship transcends official duties. It is a bridge across regions and traditions, united in purpose and service. You remind us of what is possible when Nigeria comes first,” he added.
President Tinubu prayed for Shettima’s long life, wisdom, and renewed strength, wishing him “many happy returns” as he marks his 59th birthday.
