Transformer catch fire day after 2 Nepa 2 narrowly escape electrocute in Kaduna

At last, the worse has happen, as the consistently troubled transformer serving U/Boro area of Ecwa Hausa and De Jays hotel, Kaduna town blown -up three times and cut fire.

The tragedy took the community youths some minutes to put off the flame and saved the transformer from been razed down completely by the fire, using dust.

The incident occurred around 630 :700 pm Monday when power was restored in the area after several hours of power failure to some residents since on a Sunday.

Eyewitnesses said some NEPA 2 were seen in the transformer premises on Sunday evening removing and putting fused before it also first blown up when power was restored evening of that day, which narrowly consumer the boys.

Residents are now lamenting and groaning on when the transformer problem would easily be tackle, seen light in their neighborhood without light in their entire area, in view of the heavy spark up with fire in the transformer Monday.

Contacted, Ungwan boro unit manager of Kaduna electric distribution company, Engr Paul said he doesn’t have NEPA 2.

“Good morning. I don’t have any NEPA 2 working with me, may be you should go and confirm well who went to your transformer. Secondly, anytime you see people in your transformer go and see who is there and what they are doing, not sending messages you are not sure”, Paul stated.

Also contacted, management of KADECO social group chat with journalist, stated that “Simply walk up to them and introduce yourself. They are members of the community.

“With your level of interest in the light issue, you can liaise with the Service Center Manager and he will be more than willing to introduce you so that you are kept abreast of any development regarding your local transformer Sir”.
